1rst Floor Plans

The first floor is the heart of the entertaining zone....The front windows are ten feet tall. They open into a living room that is open to the second floor loft....There is a low concrete bench on the south side of the house..(We are getting one of those super efficient Danish stoves from Scan or Rais to sit on the bench.) The Dining Room will be flanked by french doors on the north and south side..The kitchen will also have windows on both the north and south side......Down the hallway you will find a half bath, the laundry area, a coat closet, and the garage....

We joke that the primary reason we are building this house is so that Jeff has a place to finally put together the 1960 Alfa Romeo Convertible that has been dis-assembled for the past 20 years....

He better, or Mike is going to start selling Alfa parts on E-Bay...

Fridge is in

The kitchen cabinet bases are all installed, the only appliance we have placed is the fridge. The others will go in over the next week or so....you can see the Eucalyptus veneer on our cabinets....yes, they are from IKEA.....it has been a lot of work for Jeff to put them together, but they were significantly less expensive than the other choices we looked at.

3rd Floor bathroom progress

One of the cool things about the house is that when taking a shower in the 3rd floor bathroom, ones head will be in the skylight dome....Do they issue tickets for flashing a helicopter? You can also see that the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) guys started last week. They started to pull duct work up to the air exchanger and fan on the 3rd floor.... All 4 of the toilets in the house are wall mounted Geberit low flow toilets with dual flush mode. You can see the `carrier' for the toilet in the middle of this pic. The tank for the toilet is hidden in the wall cavity. We bought almost all of our plumbing fixtures online. The sinks and toilets were purchased from Ira Wood & Sons in Kentucky. They have an excellent website for comparing products: http://store.yahoo.com/irawoodinc/tewamotosy.html

Out of the gutter and into the cold..

Although the stucco guys completed their job a couple of weeks ago, some minor cracks developed in 3 areas and they have come back to patch them up..... Having the scaffold up for the stucco guys allowed our gutter guy to hang the final piece.... On Wednesday of this week the guys from Airsmiths installed the air conditioning condenser...If you're wondering if that is the American Standard Allegiance 14 Super Efficiency Condenser, you would be right! It is made in Texas in the same factory that Trane air conditioners are made at. http://www.americanstandardair.com/Products.asp?Section=homeOwners&ProductID=7&CategoryID=16&SuperCategoryID=1
